Friends of Al Tafawk
Supporting Al Tafawk Children's Centre, Jenin, Palestine
Last updated: 4th November 2026
Friends of Al Tafawk ("we", "us", "our") is a volunteer group that raises funds and awareness for the Al Tafawk Children's Centre in Jenin, Palestine. This website is run by the Friends group, not by the centre itself. This policy explains what personal information we collect through our website (www.altafawkjenin.co.uk), why we collect it, how we protect it, and the rights you have over it.
We handle personal information carefully and only collect what we need. Because our work raises money for a children's centre, we apply particular care to any information about children and their families.
1. Who is responsible for your information
Friends of Al Tafawk, located at Basement Flat, 16 Belgrave Place, Brighton BN2 1EL, is the organisation responsible for the personal information described in this policy. The Al Tafawk Children's Centre itself is in Jenin, Palestine; questions about this website, your information, or donations should come to us at the contacts below, and we will pass anything the centre needs to answer to the centre's team.
You can contact us about privacy at any time:
Email: altafawkjenin@gmail.com
2. What information we collect
Information you give us directly:
Contact details when you contact us, sign up for updates, or volunteer: typically your name, email address, and any message you send us.
Donations are not collected through this website. When you choose to donate, the site links you to our fundraising page on Chuffed, an independent crowdfunding platform. Your donation and payment details are handled entirely by Chuffed under their own terms and privacy policy, available on their website. We do not receive or store your card or bank details. Depending on what Chuffed shares with campaign organisers, we may learn your name, the amount given, and your email address so that we can thank you or keep you informed, if you have agreed to that on their page.
Volunteer or participation information: details you choose to share when you offer to help, such as skills, availability, or experience.
Contact form messages: when you write to us through the contact form on this website, we receive your name, email address, and the content of your message. We use this only to respond to you, and we keep the correspondence only as long as it remains useful for doing so.
Information collected automatically:
Basic technical information when you visit the site, such as your browser type and which pages are viewed. We use this only to keep the site working and to understand, in aggregate, how it is used. We do not use advertising trackers and we do not sell your information to anyone.
3. How we use your information
We use your information to:
Send you updates about the centre that you have asked to receive (newsletter, email updates)
Respond to your messages and enquiries
Acknowledge donations and thank donors, where Chuffed has shared donor details with us and the donor has agreed to that on their page (receipts themselves are issued by Chuffed)
Contact you about volunteering or ways to get involved, if you have asked us to
Keep the website secure and functioning
Meet legal or accounting obligations relating to donations
We will never sell your personal information, and we will never share it with anyone for their own marketing.
4. Photographs and information about children
The children the centre serves are at the heart of this work, and protecting them comes before anything we publish. Photographs and stories of the centre's children appear on this website only with the informed consent of their parent or legal guardian, obtained in writing by the centre's team, and a guardian can withdraw that consent at any time; we will then remove the image.
When we publish photos or stories about children, we never include their full names or any details that would allow a stranger to identify or locate them, such as their home address or family circumstances. This applies to our website, social media, and any printed material.
If you are a parent or guardian and have questions or concerns about an image, or wish to withdraw consent, contact us at altafawkjenin@gmail.com and we will act promptly.
5. Our legal basis for using your information
We use your information based on:
Your consent — for email updates and newsletters. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any message or by contacting us.
Our legitimate interests — responding to enquiries, running and securing the website.
Performing our agreement with you — for example, responding to a message you send us through the contact form.
Legal obligations — record-keeping requirements relating to donations.
Because Friends of Al Tafawk is based in the United Kingdom, we handle your information in line with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. We extend the same rights described in section 8 to our supporters in the European Union as well, in line with the EU GDPR.
6. Who we share information with
We share personal information only with the service providers we need to run the centre's work:
Chuffed — the crowdfunding platform that processes donations. They handle your payment and donation details directly under their own privacy policy; we never see your card number, and we receive from them only what you agree to share with us on their page.
[Email provider] — to send newsletters and updates.
[Squarespace] — to host the website.
We choose providers who protect personal data appropriately and we share only what each provider needs. We may also disclose information if we are legally required to do so, and we will resist requests that are not lawful. We do not transfer your personal data to any party for advertising or profiling purposes.
7. How long we keep information, and how we protect it
We keep your contact information for as long as you remain subscribed to updates, and donation records for as long as [financial law / our auditors] require us to keep financial records (typically [six] years). When information is no longer needed, we delete it.
We protect personal information with appropriate technical and organisational measures, including [access controls / encryption / restricted access by authorised members and volunteers only]. Only authorised people in the Friends group can access your personal information, and only when their role requires it.
If a data breach occurs that risks harm to you, we will inform you and the Information Commissioner's Office without undue delay, as the law requires.
8. Your rights
You have the right to:
Ask what personal information we hold about you and receive a copy
Ask us to correct information that is wrong
Ask us to delete your information (we may need to keep some records for legal reasons)
Ask us to stop using your information for a particular purpose
Withdraw consent at any time, for example to unsubscribe from updates
Object to how we are using your information
To use any of these rights, contact us at altafawkjenin@gmail.com. We will respond within [30] days.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, please tell us first so we can put things right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection authority, or, if you are in the European Union, to the supervisory authority in your country.
9. Cookies
Our website uses only the cookies needed for it to function [and [analytics tool] to count visits anonymously]. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time.
10. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page and, for significant changes, announce them on the website. The policy published here is always the current version.
